1903

Newell is Manufacturing is Co. established in Ogdensburg, NY under Edgar A. Newell

1996

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is enacted by US Congress; addressing the security and privacy of health data and establishing national standards for electronic health care transactions

1999

Newell Manufacturing Co. acquires Rubbermaid, including Rubbermaid, Graco & Little Tikes brands, doubling the size of the company and changing its name to Newell Rubbermaid

2003

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions is formed as a business unit of Newell Rubbermaid, delivering the first system for eMAR to the healthcare market (2003)

Medication Prescription Drug, Improvement & Modernization Act signed into law, establishing HSA's for taxpayers in the United States

2004

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions introduces its Generation 1 medication carts to the healthcare industry

2005

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions is relocated from Winchester, VA to Newell Rubbermaid’s regional campus in Huntersville, NC

HIMSS Analytics EMT Adoption Model is created to reflect how individual hospitals and integrated delivery systems in the US and Canada adopt information technology, promoting higher levels of IT adoption and improvements in patient safety and care quality.

2006

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions introduces its Generation 2 medication carts to the healthcare industry

2007

Rubbermaid introduces its Generation 3 medication carts, a new M38 Platform, to the healthcare industry

2008

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions produces and ships its 1,000th mobile cart

2009

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions enters the wall mounted workstation category with the launch of the Tandem ArmTM and Wall Cabinet

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH) allocates $19.2B in funding for hospitals and physician practices who adopt a certified electronic health record system (HER) over the next several years

2010

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions produces and ships its 20,000th mobile cart

2011

HITECH Act declares that hospitals and physicisian practices achieving meaningful use of an HER, at Stage 4 or higher of the EMR Adoption Model (Stage 3 for Ambulatory), are eligible to receive financial incentives

2012

Rubbermaid Medical Solutions launches New Mobile EMR Platform marketplace

2013

Rubbermaid Healthcare launches the next generation, smart mobile nurse station, CareLink™, which connects IT and nursing in ways never before possible. CareLink is taking mobile computing to the next level, with connections, shortcuts and resources right at your fingertips.

2014

Rubbermaid Healthcare is ranked highest in patient safety and nursing efficiency by KLAS's 2014 study entitled "Medication Cabinets, Carts, & BCMA."

2015

Rubbermaid Healthcare acquired by Capsa Solutions, aligning two of the leading providers of health IT innovation and point-of-care computing products.
